Limpias
Limpias, often associated with various Latin American and Indigenous healing traditions, refer to spiritual or energy cleansing practices. These rituals aim to remove negative energies, emotional blockages, or spiritual impurities from a person. Limpias may involve the use of different tools such as yerbas, eggs, flowers, feathers, or other symbolic objects. Practitioners often perform these cleansing ceremonies with the intention of promoting physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being, restoring balance, and purifying the energy field of the individual undergoing the Limpias. The specific methods and rituals can vary across cultural and regional contexts.
Encouraged by my grandparents, I embraced the practice of giving Limpias to not only close friends and family members but also to mentees and individuals within my community. As I dedicated myself to this spiritual cleansing ritual, I started to witness a noticeable positive impact on those I had the privilege to help. The recipients of Limpias reported feeling not just physically cleansed but also experiencing a sense of emotional and spiritual well-being.
The transformative effects were evident, as individuals spoke of a renewed sense of clarity, balance, and inner peace. This ripple of positive change extended beyond the immediate recipients, as they, in turn, began referring friends to experience the healing and revitalizing benefits of Limpias. This journey has become a testament to the enduring wisdom of cultural practices and the profound connection between holistic well-being and the traditions passed down through generations.
First Foods and Sacred Seed Ceremonies
Deeply rooted in Mesoamerican traditions, I specialize in facilitating First Foods and Sacred Seed Ceremonies, offering teachings that celebrate and honor Native foods, sacred seeds, and traditional drinks. Through these ceremonies, I aim to connect individuals with the rich heritage of Mesoamerican traditions, fostering a deeper understanding of the significance of Native foods (i.e. beans, corn, cacao, chia, pepitas, sunflower seeds, amaranth, quinoa, nopales, chile, etc.) and their role in holistic well-being and culture.
Over the years, my students expressed their exhaustion, as I witnessed their consumption of energy drinks and fast food. I too was caught up in the "rat race" of not taking care of my needs and nourishing my body properly. In response, I re-introduced them to traditional Native foods, many students took the call to decolonize their diets seriously.
Addressing issues like eating disorders and disordered eating, we collectively and organically embarked on creating ceremonies centered around family, friends, food, history, and healing. These ceremonies have become transformative rites of passage for young individuals, pregnant women, babies, toddlers, and for those seeking a profound connection to their culture as we began to heal wounds around food and eating.
Platicas
Platicas embody a form of healing communication rooted in traditional Mexican Traditional Medicine, which is a holistic healing practice. The term emphasizes the therapeutic power of heartfelt conversations. These platicas are seen as a means of not only sharing personal experiences but also as a form of spiritual and emotional healing. The act of engaging in heart-to-heart platicas is believed to promote balance, understanding, and a sense of interconnectedness, aligning with the holistic approach to well-being inherent in this healing tradition.
Throughout the various intersections of my life, I have frequently found myself immersed in profound conversations with a diverse array of individuals. These interactions spanned the realms of relationship advice, career guidance, spiritual insights, topics on motherhood, and various forms of "counseling." Initially, I naturally held space for those seeking an open ear, providing support and understanding.
Over time, I came to a profound realization that what I was truly engaged in transcended mere conversation—it was the facilitation of deep, heartfelt, and potentially life-changing dialogues that could involve ritual. Recognizing the power of these exchanges, I embraced the role of a guide, creating a space where individuals could authentically explore the intricacies of their lives and embark on journeys of self-discovery and growth.
